Fascinating tale. The father (Reza Shah) of the more well known Mohammed Reza Shah was a very progressive leader and banned the purdah in 1935! The politics over oil that played over in Iraq in the 21st century quietly took place early in the 20th century in Iran as well. Thank you for piquing my curiosity to know more.
