Just listened to your comments on kerala writers and films based on some of those books. How on earth you remember all these things. Really remarkable. I especially
The most successful fiction- movie combo in malayalam was Chemmeen, I think. The best novel I read in Malayalam is Kayar by Thakazhi. It is a unique story that can take place only in Kerala. Asuravith by MT has also that quality. His best work. You can see Malayalam as a language at its peak beauty in Subash Chandran’s novels. The magician was Basheer. Vijayan started as a rebel and ended with seeking for infinite grace. Mukundan was a disaster after his Mayyazhi. He and other modernists like Kakkandan and Anand was repeating the same theme that Westerners already dealt with decades ago. Sara Joseph cut her own path with Alahyude penmakkal. How can I forget the masterpiece, Oru desathinte katha by Pottakkad? On this day, I want to say that when you read, you get into the shoe of the other. Or in another way to say is that we use the term, for example, “leaf” for all the leaves on a tree. Each work is about each unique leaf on the tree.
